The long awaited arrival of SOE’s (Sony Online Entertainment) Free Realms seems to be worth the wait which launched April 29th 2009. Free Realms is described by Sony as “a free 3D virtual world where you can do whatever you want, whenever you want! In Free Realms, YOU RULE!”
Amazingly within 17 days Free Realms has registered 1 million users which may also have even surprised SOE’s president John Smedley. “The excitement surrounding Free Realms, and the positive response the game has already received, is overwhelming,” SOE president John Smedley stated.
Free Realms is a free to play MMORPG is aimed at a younger audience than the average MMORPG, still offering a little bit for everyone. The game is very polished for being just out of beta and has a great graphical style and many interesting features such as in game mini-games, jobs and classes, and many quests. All of these great features of the game and incorporating the Free Realms TCG (Trading Card Game)seems to be a winner for Sony but as with all MMORPG’s, time will tell.
Currently Free Realms is advertising registration of the game through viral marketing and offering free starter Free Realms Trading Card Packs in select Blockbuster Video and Best Buy stores nationwide, and of course Free Realms fans and cheats sites.
