Free Realms TCG Comprehensive play guide:

We all know that SOE has incorporated in the Free Realms a Trading Card game and began to stock up stores last week TCG for Free Realms. I am sure this will be a HUGE hit so I decided to put together this Comprehensive Free Realms TCG Play Guide to help all of those out there in the community that are interested in being a Card Duelist.

The trading game can be played either in your home or online, so for now this guide will teach you how to play the TCG online as opposed to in your home with the cards you can pick up in store nationwide.

To begin you will need to first locate “Ari the Fish”, and no she is not a fish so don’t lok in the rivers but look west of the Sanctuary Warpstone. As you run up to her she will give you a quest “Pick a card” and she will then instruct you to go to Sam Potts far a bit of training.
**Hint: Set Ari’s quest tracker to active to follow the path.

Mrs. Potts will then ask you to join in a TCG already in progress which can get a little confusing so I put together an easy to read and understand guide for you.


As you can see, the Free Realms TCG online board is layed out in a very easy on the eye. Basically you have a Top Section which is your opponent’s side and the Bottom Section which is your half of which both players will have 3 slots to play your cards to attack.
**Notice the cards won section during battle beneath your player’s cards.


Creature Cards

The Creature cards are the front line of the game. Take a look at the card above and you will notice a few note worthy things.
·Top – Creature Name
·Top Left – Shows the coin value needed to call this creature out for battle.
·Top Right – Is the family class of the creature
·Center – Is the wonderful illustration of the warrior and below the text will specify the special abilities the creature will offer you in battle.
·Center Middle – You will notice a star which is your creatures attack power and below that is a shield which of course is the creatures defense level.
·Bottom – are the Gems that are used in conjunction with adding power to an attack or defense during battle. Use of these wisely can drastically turn any match around.


**Tip: The Hero Cards are very useful during game play they are typically VERY strong but cost a lot of coins to get to battle but the abilities are massive.


Resource Cards

These cards are basically your cash cards and will be the key to winning many online battles. You can use these resource cards during the "Ready" portion of the game to generate the Coins necessary to put more cards on the board or the Stars used to “trick” a play from your inventory. Be advised you can only get 1 coin and 1 star each turn only.

All of the resource cards have their own unique abilities, but be careful because their ability may only be used one time. Make sure to look as some resource cards compliment the creature families.
You are also allowed to flip a resource card face down. Why you ask, and to what benefit? Because you will then receive a sort of “token” – just make sure to read the resource card in detail.

Trick Cards
Trick cards are only used once and the sent to the discard pile but can provide help to your creatures in the same class/family.


So now that you know all of the basics of the TCG like the Creature cards, Resource Cards, and Trick Cards lets move on to the gameplay itself.


Gameplay
First each player is dealt a hand. Yes, you can only re-deal once, so use it wisely or you may get caught up with a worse hand dealt to you. Look for Resource cards or Creature cards otherwise it would be a good idea to re-shuffle.

Now there are 3 parts to the battle (Ready, Set, and of course GO)

·Ready phase, all zapped cards are restored (a card that looks like a lightning bolt gone through it), and the player draws two cards.
·Set phase is when you send Resource cards to your Inventory and place Creatures cards in the spaces provided on the gameplay board.
·When the Go phase begins, you can attack with any Creatures you have on the board. If your Creature has no card opposite it on the board, you can Hunt which will win you one card with a direct hit.

Durring Set, you may choose to use only one card per turn to place in the inventory. Choose wisely the resource cards are the best because they can be played from your inventory. If you must, give up a “trick” card in replace others.Now play a card and you will receive coins that can be spent to call a Creature to battle. Discard when done.

As “Go” starts, look for opening when opponents do not have a card opposite of you in order to win cards. This is called Hunting or Hunt
As the Creatures battle the power will face off against the opponents defense, this is where you may want to use tricks to enable your stats to inflate. Based on the amount of cards won you will then flip that amount until depleted for that particular Creature throughout the game play. The Gems that were collected (based on the total amount of the cards flipped) get added to bith your attack power level and defense level.

Confused yet? Well, it is very hard to describe so as I mentioned I am doing my best J. You can always follow Potts tutorial as well with this tutorial you will get a great understanding.

So how do I win?
This is a great question, ….. course the million dollar question so here we go.

1. BE AGGRESSIVE! Typically the odds will be stacked in your favor since Free Realms TCG relies on attacking and not as much defending.
2. Additional Tips to become a Master Card Duelist: (updated May 20th)

• When Defending look into using tricks wisely to defeat the creature to enable you to Hunt and ultimately win a card.

• Follow quests in order to boost your collections in the beginning as typically your cards will be very weak to begin with.
